Rother Labour Group stands in full solidarity with the Muslim community in Peacehaven and across East Sussex following the appalling arson attack on the Phyllis Avenue mosque.

This was a cowardly act of hate that could have cost lives. We share in the shock and sadness felt by our Muslim neighbours and we reaffirm our commitment to a community built on respect, compassion, and unity.

An attack on one community is an attack on us all. We stand together — in Peacehaven, in Rother, and across Sussex — against hate and division, and for the values of togetherness, understanding, and justice that define us.

Our thoughts are with all those affected, and we thank the emergency services for their swift and courageous response.
