We are deeply horrified and saddened by the appalling terrorist attack at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue in Manchester on Thursday, 2nd October.

Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of Adrian Daubly and Melvin Cravitz, who tragically lost their lives, and to all those who were injured in this despicable act of violence. That this attack took place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, makes it all the more shocking and reprehensible.

This attack on a place of worship is an attack on our shared values of tolerance, respect, and religious freedom. We stand in solidarity with Manchester’s Jewish community and Jewish communities everywhere who are grieving and fearful in the wake of this atrocity.

There is no place for antisemitism, hatred, or violence in our society. We must all stand together against those who seek to divide us and terrorise innocent people.
Our thoughts remain with all those affected by this tragedy.
