Christine Bayliss and Ruairi McCourt – Labour Councillors for Central Ward Bexhill have published the results of their Big Conservation – Egerton Park Survey. They are grateful to all 174 residents and users of the park who completed the survey and set out their views about what they like about the park, what they would change and who they think should run the service.

Christine said “We launched the survey as a means of listening to the views of local residents so we can take these into account when we come to make decisions about the management, funding and future of Egerton Park”

Ruairi said “The outcomes were not surprising. People love the children’s play areas, the wildlife and trees and planting but they also have concerns about the state of the toilets and antisocial behaviour”.

Due to the Conservative Government’s disastrous withdrawal of local government funding, Rother District Council will have to make considerable budget savings in the next 12 months. We know that there will need to be reductions in discretionary services which are the services that ‘are nice to have’ but aren’t legally required by law.  It is therefore very helpful for Ruairi and Christine to know what local people value about the park when we come to consider how best to make those savings.

Thank you again to all those who responded to our survey. You can view and download the full report CLICK HERE
