This week your Labour candidates launched the Cleaner Seas Campaign to hold Southern Water and our Conservative government to account. Labour’s plan to fix the issue of repeated sewage dumping into our oceans and onto our beaches is:

  • Automatic fines and mandatory monitoring
  • Tough sanctions for failing water bosses
  • Ending systematic discharges by 2030

Additionally, we will be advocating for Rother District Council to increase the visibility of their alerts on the seafront (currently only a couple of A4 notices are posted on the seafront to say if the water is unsafe to swim in – inadequate), so residents and visitors are fully aware of the status of our beaches.

Our coastal waters being healthy and safe to swim in is a fundamental to our health and our local economy.

Vote LABOUR for action on this issue.
