Peter Sanders

Our CLP Secretary, Peter Sanders, came late to politics. For many years focusing on work and family, there seemed little spare time to devote to any particular cause. After retirement from his career as Probation Officer (at a time, 1970s – 1980s, when this was a generic role as Social Worker to Civil and Criminal Courts and Prisons), ESCC Child Protection and Mental Health Social Worker, 1990s,  and finally Private Practice Psychotherapist, and moving to Bexhill in 2014, he wanted to engage in voluntary work (Library Computer Buddy and Syrian Families Project) and also became interested in the campaign to bring in the Town Council and was inspired by the national surge in membership of the Labour Party in the Corbyn period. Perhaps contrary to the more usual aging process, he has become more left-thinking, radical and more outraged by the growing social and economic inequalities we have all observed, especially over the last two decades. He is especially pleased that Bexhill and Rother have become less Tory-controlled in recent times.
