This week I had the honour of opening the very first meeting of Bexhill Town Council on Wednesday 19th May in the Town Hall. My job was to welcome everyone to the meeting and oversee the process of electing the first chair and Mayor of Bexhill Cllr Paul Plim.
I was very pleased that the Council decided to adopt the title Bexhill Town Council with a Mayor. I was also pleased to see that a motion to defer having a Mayor for the first couple of years was defeated. We need a figure head and civic leadership more so than ever as we emerge from the pandemic.
Town Councillors voted to set up a planning committee and a staffing committee which will oversee the appointment of a clerk. The next meeting is in a month’s time! Hopefully they will get a Facebook Page up and running with news, events and meetings.
