Bexhill and Battle Labour Party are excited to announce the first person on our roster of candidates for the 2021 East Sussex County Council elections.
It is with great pride that we announce Christine Bayliss has been selected to stand for the Labour Party in the County Division of “Bexhill North” which comprises parts of Kewhurst ward, parts St Stephens ward and Sidley.
Having lived in Sidley as a teenager, first above her parents’ shop in Ninfield Road and later in Whitehouse Avenue, Christine has a strong connection with the area. Outside of lockdown Christine is often in Sidley visiting friends and family, using the local shops and campaigning on important local issues. Christine has worked hard with local District Councillor Sam Coleman to ensure families have access to affordable childcare in Sidley, is supporting the campaign to develop a BMX and Skatepark facility in Canada Way and is working closely with Sam to return Gullivers to a sports and social ground.
Christine has a background in the police force, as a hotelier and in the Department For Education. She now runs her own successful business in the education sector as well as dedicating lots of her time to improving lives as a Rother District Councillor and passionate community campaigner.
Stay tuned to read more about Christine’s pledges and ambitions for Sidley and the Bexhill North area over the coming weeks.
It’s time to elect County Councillors that listen and fight for local people. Vote Labour on May 6th.
