Blue New Deal - reviving coastal communities

Coastal communities throughout the UK are experiencing high levels of unemployment, deprivation and educational underachievement. Members may be interested in The Blue New Deal  an initiative developed by the New Economics Foundation which is very relevant to our own community.

This UK-wide initiative - developed by the New Economics Foundation (NEF) - is looking to create employment while also protecting the environment. You can view the report here  http://www.neweconomics.org/publications/entry/blue-new-deal

NEF will hold a winter seminar on 10 February 2016 at which Fernanda Belata, project lead for coastal and marine environment at NEF's environment team will talk about how the project will work towards revitalising coastal areas. Details from the NEF website.
